LBJ is a surprisingly popular conspiracy theory for the assassination of JFK among conspiracy theorists. Around 20% of Americans believe he was responsible behind the death of JFK.. Critics of the Warren commission found LBJ possible to plot the assassination because he "disliked the Kennedy's and he was worried of being dropped from the Democrats in the next 1964 election. LBJ feared of being dropped from the Kennedy ticket in 1964 as well as the need to cover up numerous scandals decided to mastermind Kennedy's assassination with the help of his friend Edward. A Clark, the Austin attorney. The mistress of LBJ claimed she allegedly heard Johnson and his accomplice H.L hunt, had begun planning Kennedys death as early as 1960. at a social gathering a night before Kennedy's assassination, Madeleine Brown claimed that when Johnson arrived late at the gathering he whispered to her that the "...Kennedys will never embarrass me again—that's no threat—that's a promise." This evidence points towards LBJ being the mastermind Behind the assassination of Kennedy.
The Umbrella Man
Another common and vey popular fringe theory, this theory suggests that someone worked with Lee Harvey Oswald's assassination by the use of an umbrella. It suggests the 'umbrella man, later revealed to be Louie Steven Witt, cooperated with Oswald by means of raising his umbrella only a second before JFK was shot. This is shown in the Zapruder film, frames 206 to 240, This supposedly signalled an 'all clear' signal for Oswald to shoot Kennedy. Theorists also suggest that The Umbrella man shot a sedative or 'tranquiliser that demobilised Kennedy, allowing Oswald to take the shot. This is followed By the belief that the umbrella man shot Kennedy himself alongside Oswald. However the theory that Louie Steven Witt had anything to do with the assassination was met with widespread disbelief with Witt denying any responsibility In the HSCA trial simply saying "I think if the Guinness Book of World Records had a category for people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing, I would be No. 1 in that position, without even a close runner-up." Witt also showed his umbrella to the HSCA proving it did not conceal any hidden weapon.
